Domus Operosa at Burton is a magnificent new aged care facility designed to meet the needs of older people into the future.
The home is built around a lovely lake with a bridge where residents and families can stroll and enjoy the views of the adjacent wetlands with its numerous trees and birdlife. All of the eight accommodation wings have a lounge dining area which overlooks the lake and gardens, with an additional quite lounge opposite each entry.
Each wing consists of ten single ensuite motel style rooms each having a door opening onto private and secure courtyard. The courtyards all contain raised gardens where residents can choose to plant vegetables, trees and flowers of their choice and care for them.
The home has 80 places consisting of both high and low care, 20 of these places being designated for residents suffering from dementia. Two of the wings have been allocated for this specialised care.
Care services at the home consist of nursing care, assistance with all activities of daily living, medication management, wound care, continence care, and allied health services such as physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational and speech therapy. All residents are assessed for their individual needs when entering the home and a special nursing and social plan is designed with the resident/family to ensure all the resident's care and lifestyle choices are met.

Domus has two diversional therapists who provide a wide range of activities and events for residents to participate in. A special painting group receive art lessons resulting in one of the quite lounges being decorated with all the beautiful art work produced. The home also hosts several community based programs extending opportunities for friendships into the home.
Resident's are supported to attend Mass and Rosary or to follow the religion of their choice. Pastoral workers visit the home on a regular basis to ensure our residents spiritual needs are met.
Families are welcome to visit at any time and also enjoy a meal with our resident's. Special days are celebrated and families welcome and encouraged to attend these events.
Domus Operosa at Burton is part of the Italian Benevolent Foundation. Being part of this larger group provides more care and social options for residents and increased diversity of choice. The organisation facilitates Carer's support and education groups with the Alzheimer's SA which have been a comfort to many families.
The home has regularly achieved all 44 standards and works to continually improve the environment in lifestyle and choices for residents at all levels. The modern spacious surroundings and beautiful open aspect assist us to develop new and innovative ways to enhance the wellbeing of our residents.
